How to find us in the building of the Institute of Physics (Fyzikalni ustav)?
Would you like to visit us not only virtually? Our laboratories and most of the offices are located on the 1st basement and the rest of the offices are on the second floor of the Institute of Physics of the Charles University (Ke Karlovu 5). It is simple to find the offices located on the second floor. From the main entrance of the building use the main staircase and go to the highest floor, the offices are at the opposite corner of the building. To reach our offices and laboratories located on the 1st basement is more difficult. The following schemes can make it easier. The way is indicated by a red arrow.

When you stand in the entrance hall, don´t use the main staircase, but take a little bit dark corridor on the right side of the stairs. After a few metres turn left, pass through the door (marked by a green point) and go downstairs to the 1st basement. You are standing in the middle of the vestibule with wide main staircase leading up (going to the great lecture hall F1) in front of you. Don’t use the staircase, but take a little bit dark corridor on the right side of the stairs. After few metres make a left turn. Use the first door on your left hand (this point is marked by green colour on the first scheme shown above) and go downstairs to 1st basement of the building.
Now follow the scheme of the 1st basement depicted above on the right figure. Turn right, pass through the first door and immediately beyond it turn right again. Go straight until you get to the courtyard. In the archway on the right you can see the entrance door to offices and laboratories of the Division of Biomolecular Physics.

There are 2 possibilities for the way from the metro station I. P. Pavlova. You could use bus 148, which takes you from bus stop I. P. Pavlova to stop Dětská nemocnice Karlovu from where it is only few steps to the building of the Institute of Physics (No. 5) – see the schematic map bellow.
It is also possible to walk the way (about 500 m). The next picture shows you how to reach us from the metro station I. P. Pavlova. Get off the metro by the first left exit and cross the Sokolská street (there is a pedestrian crossing), go up along the street and take the street on your right at the first cross-road (the Na Bojišti street). Turn left at the end of the street to join the Ke Karlovu street. Go down the street, pass a brick wall on the right side until you can see a yellow building of the Institute of Physics (No. 5) on your left.
