Fields of interest and research experience:
- Usage of optical spectroscopy in biophysics (Raman spectroscopy and microscopy, Raman optical activity, infrared spectroscopy, UV-VIS spectroscopy, circular dichroism.
- Study of proteins structures and their interactions with ligands and/or nucleic acids by methods of optical spectroscopy.
- Study of saccharides and glycoproteins by means of vibrational spectroscopy.
- Applications of vibrational spectroscopy in medical diagnosis.
- Protein calorimetry.
- Study of structures and physico-chemical features of modified nucleotides by methods of optical spectroscopy.
- Quantum–chemical calculations of modified nucleotides and by Gaussian
- Programing under MATLAB
- Author and co–author of 22 papers in impacted journals, 84 konference proceedings (including 7 lectures, 4 invited lectures and one plenary lecture) and more than 200 popularisation articles.
- Co–editor of the book of abstracts of the european conference 9th European Conference on the Spectroscopy of Biological Molecules .
- Director-in-chief of the journal for popularization of science, mainly astronomy and astrophysics, Astropis .
- Thesis on theme “Study of structures and physical–chemical features of new acyclic nucleotide analogues – potential terminators of viral DNA transcription”.
Curiculum vitae:
- Prize in the contest of the Spectroscopic Society of Jan Marcus Marci for the best thesis in spectroscopic field in year 1998.
- The prize of the rector of Charles University sponsored by daily paper Mlada Fronta Dnes and awarded in Carolinum at scope of the end of celebrations of the 650th University anniversary in 1999 for remarkable study and scientific results.
- Prize of The Foundation of Bernard Bolzano for the best scientific work in physics in year 2003.
- Young scientist award of the Spectroscopic Society of Jan Marcus Marci for the best paper in spectroscopic field in year 2004.
